Group Therapy Logistics and Housekeeping

Arrival

Parking is located behind the building and to the west of the building. The counseling office is on the west end of the building. Since we have a small waiting area for an office with up to seven therapists working at a time, you are invited to wait for the group to begin in the main hallway or on the east side of the building by the dentist office. There are chairs lining the hallway and a couch and two leather chairs in the east lobby. Brian will come get you at 7:30 p.m. when the room is ready. We will begin on time to respect the schedules of all group members. If you arrive late, please knock on our door (the only office to the left of the waiting room) and enter.

Group process

Feel free to make yourself comfortable and sit wherever you’d like during group. A typical group session will be:

  • A quick individual check-in
  • Processing the topic(s) of the night
  • Processing the interactions of the group
  • We will finish on time to respect everyone’s schedules
  • You will be encouraged to journal about your group experience throughout the week

Restrooms

A women’s restroom is located to the left of my office door. The men’s restroom is located at the bottom of the stairs on the west side of the building. Feel free to use whichever restroom makes you the most comfortable. If you would like a private, individual restroom, please let Brian know and you will be accommodated.

Breaks and refreshments

Believe it or not, 90 minutes will fly by! Therefore, we will not have an official break time. Feel free to take care of your needs and use the restroom when needed. Bottles of water will be provided in our room.

Payment

Payment is due at the end of each session. In order to expedite this process, cash is preferred, although checks and cards are also accepted. If you’d like to receive a $25 discount, you may pay $175 at the end of the first session to cover all eight group sessions. When you chose to pay in advance, refunds are only available under exceptional or emergency-related circumstances.
